IO Industries Flare 2KSDI

Small and Mighty

With it's thick milled aluminum case, the 2KSDI is built tough. To prevent points of failure, the camera has no knobs or buttons on the case itself. Though it is usually needed for operation of other pro mini-cameras, the 2KSDI does not require a camera control unit. The camera can be controlled via handheld remote, serial connection, or can be set into autonomous operation. These features work together to accomplish maximum usability in a minimal size.

The Multi-Faceted Mini-cam

The 2KSDI is built to be completely flexible, yet small enough to fit into a range of specialty applications for both broadcast and cinema. The camera is built on IO Industries' years of experience with industrial cameras, yet packs in the flexible color processing and optics support required by video professionals.

Small Size, Huge Potential

Weighing in at 310g, the 2KSDI is no larger than an average apple. With its' solid aluminum housing and flexible lensing options, the 2KSDI quickly becomes known as "the tough little camera that could" on most shoots. Though some professional mini-cams require a separate camera control unit, all of the 2KSDI's functions can be set directly on the camera head.

So Many Modes!

The 2KSDI can travel where other cameras can't, yet it can also speak the language when it gets there. The camera can be configured in full 2K RAW for digitial cinema one day, then 422 interlaced for live broadcast the next. All of this is configured from an easy to use on-screen display with the small handheld remote, or by attaching an RS485 cable for long distance control.

Fills the Gap in Your RAW Workflow

With so many productions shooting RAW video, it is great to have the ability to keep the same workflow for every camera on the shoot. Keep your same RAW workflow, but with use of a small camera!

Example of a File-Based Workflow

This diagram illustrates a typical setup. The DVR is fed the 2KSDI’s clean output, where the 2KSDI’s output which includes the on-screen display is fed to a monitor.

The table below shows an example of some field recorders which work well with the 2KSDI. Feel free to contact us for recommendations as to which field recorder best fits your application.
